I agree with you 100%!

You are also right about US greed for, and dependence on, oil.
But you left out of consideration Israel which enjoys full support from the Bush Administration. Frankly, I believe that had Israel been located elsewhere other than in the Middle East, the Moslem problem might not have become as serious as it is now.

Clinton, despite all the accusations levelled against him, certainly got one concept right ---- that is, if only Israel and the Palestinians would sign a peace accord, a lot of the claims of the Jihadists would have been "delegitimized" and then some.

Bush chose not to adopt Clinton's approach largely because he apparently believes, imho, he has a mandate from Heaven to destroy the Jihadists and to help Israel fulfill Biblical prophecies. No wonder virtually all of the entire "Christian Right" and Fundamentalist Christians gave Bush their unstinting support in the recent election. But, of course, faith is more thing and reality is another!
