Yes, Reagan was very into that. And what a tragedy. I like the saying/idea of what we are is how we treat the least among us, or however that goes. To turn these folks out into the streets was/is a travesty. One memory is of when I worked in a coffee store in downtown SF on Market Street. There was a very smelly, very large, man who would rant and rave outside and step inside now and then, and I'd ease him out. Well, one day he was pointing madly at a shelf, at a small cup for espresso. So I finally took the cup off the shelf and set it on the counter. With his very dirty hands, he took change from his pocket and counted outloud until it was the amount I told him the cup cost. Then I wrapped it up and he stuck it in his pocket and smiled and left. But this man should have had a warm bed and a decent, if not exciting, meal each night.

Well, I'm not into the blame game. Did you ever see "Session-9"? It was about three years ago and not a big hit. I've watched it three times and find it fascinating and really eerie. It was filmed at the notorious Danvers State Hospital (now boarded up) in my locale. It is one of the few movies that really gave me the shivers.

Incorrect.....blame does not attach to Reagan........you can blame the FALs who sued the states keeping those unfortunate souls confined to vindicate their "civil rights".....apparently sleeping in your own excrement in the street is a civil right....
