Have you been following the fun out here?

We had one recount, and the Republican won again, but with a substantially lower count. The Dems tried to overturn it, but failed.

So they decided to try again. If at first and second you don't succeed....

So we're in the second, hand, recount, and with all counties except King County (Seattle) reporting, the Republican has picked up about twenty votes.

BUT, King County, which is heavily Democratic (and has a canvassing board of two Dems and 1 Republican) is deciding, apparently, to do a Kennedy Chicago bit.

First, they "found" about 1,000 ballots they wanted to add to the count. But the state Supreme Court said no, a recount is a a recount, not a revote.

So they they "found" another 500 some ballots that they claim aren't covered by the court decision. And then they "found" another smaller bunch, and then they "found" 22 more that were in the bottom of ballot boxes but not counted, and then they have 12 they aren't able to locate.

The King County dems aren't going to quit "finding" ballots until they have "found" enough to put the Democrat over the top. Unless the Supreme Court spanks their hands again. And again and again until they finally admit defeat. Which may be the middle of 2005, but they don't care since they would still have their lame duck Dem governor still in power.

Washington used to have a reputation for being squeaky-clean in its politics. But all those Californicators moved in, and now we're no better than anybody else.

Sigh.
