It shouldn't be, I know, but it is. Apparently the mind-numbing figures have no effect on some folks here, since too many here readily support, in the name of "freedom", such horror and murder. Where does barbarism start? 1 needless death? 10 needless deaths? 100 deaths? 1000 deaths? 15,000 massacred? At minimum, the civilian death toll in Iraq is like wiping the towns of Acworth Georgia and Kennesaw Georgia off the face of the planet. But perhaps the reality is like utterly destroying Marietta Georgia and its 50,000 residents, a town familiar at least in name to more. Among the dead would be: Mayor: Ansley L. Meaders Council Member: Frank T. Ayers Council Member: James C. Dodd, Jr. Council Member: Philip M. Goldstein Council Member: Betty L. Hunter Council Member: E. Paul Sabiston Council Member: John Vincent Sinclair Council Member: M. C. (Pete) Waldrep, Jr. City Auditor: Ed Maxfield City Attorney: Doug Haynie City Clerk: Sheila R. Hill City Manager: William Buckner Fire Chief: Ken Burris Personnel Director: Nancy Martin Police Chief: Bobby Moody Court Clerk: Brooks Parish Public Information: Audrey Griffies Economic Dev Manager: Mike Donahue ... and 49,982 more persons - killed. Would that qualify as terrorism to some here, I wonder? Does it take two Marietta's wiped out before we call such actions crimes against humanity? 10 such towns? What's the limit? Meanwhile, those that support and indeed argue for this criminal, illegal war sit back well stuffed in their comfy chairs while tens of thousands of innocents are murdered by us, and cheer the slaughter on. Clearly barbarism was reached long ago.
