"Kastel Not Liberal not Conservative..."

Just as I expected, a closet NDP. LOL!

Thanks for your reply Kastel. Perhaps interesting that my use of the term "redneck" induces such admonition. Does your labeling the article "written by a liberal", discredit and refute its argument ?

Far more interesting, though, was the reply my posting drew:

"The US credibility is that it has the military might".

Don't you think this sounds not unlike the "Might is Right" theme of '39/'45 vintage ? And yet there was nary a murmur of protest. I guess times change.... even in Canada.

I remain,

your liberal friend (note the small "l")

Frankly I don't see why we should be surprised that Iran would want nuclear weapons - US actions have proven that they only invade countries which don't have nuclear weapons, and the US is camped out on their doorstep.

Given the action in Iraq, why would any longer term planner in Iran think they are safe from a made-up pretext for invasion?

PS: Your comment on Iranian future energy needs is on the money. Nigeria too will need to think about its future energy needs given its population and rate of increase. Everyone "wants in" to the good life, sponsored by energy. Well once all these somewhat 'behind the curve' nations start burning the midnight oil for their own purposes, you can be damn sure they'll want to protect their own futures. Just wait until these nations become convinced they have to start a little hoarding program...
