Impoverishment relates to more than financial considerations.

1. Bush's unilateral action in Iraq has virtually emptied the treasury thereby creating huge deficits and mortgaging the future of Americans. Because of Bush's extravagant spending on the war in Iraq and in Afghanistan, inflation has reared its ugly head. Result: Americans now have to spend more for the same goods and services they were able to get for less money in the past. Also, Americans have lost the support of their allies.

2. Outsourcing of jobs has increased the unemployment rolls on the homefront. No employment ===> no money ====> impoverishment!

By jobs I mean jobs that pay decent wages, not the kind of jobs that Cheney's have in mind like temporary or semi-temporary jobs created at EBay, for example. LOL!

If you would reclassify food-preparation in eateries in general as manufacturing jobs, then you can claim (albeit speciously) that the number of manufacturing jobs has increased. LOL!
