"So, as you see, although they were Christians, they were non-conformists"

Yes, I can definitely agree that we have many non-conformists that make up our country and I consider myself one of them. I have, for many years, objected to views of the denominational churches, each one of them believing that strict adherence to there practices as being the correct way to believe and worship God. The reasons for their way of doing things is usually found to be self serving and narrow minded, imo.

The Church of God is to be found in the heart of the believer and not in the practice of church creeds. The Bible has for me, is always the final arbiter of truth and not in what church you have been baptised in or what practices are laid down by any body.

The early church served well to keep order in a new society and to deal quite well with the criminal element of society. It had it's purpose. Today, we always have the protesters who claim their rights are being trampled upon but complete freedom to do anything that one feels like doing would end up creating anarchy. Men have to live by some type of rule. There is no perfect government but we have to draw the line. America is divided today because people want complete freedom with no responsibilities. It just doesn't work.
