"Bottom line what is needed is a fatwa regarding wmds and all forms of terrorism whether in iraq or israel followed by a shift in US policy that satisfys some of the points made in the article posted by st. "

Way to broad. Why would they provide such a fatwa. WMDs are weapons. We have them and anyone who considers themselves a legitimate military is going to see themselves having the right to them. There are other deterants to keeping our enemies from developing nukes but expecting a Fatwa on this is pointless. If it were to condemn them it would be necessarily condemning us (the biggest traffickers in WMDs) in the process.

All forms of terrorism, however, should be addressed. In addition, a directive on the best position/direction for the Al-Quaida organization or a flat out denunciation of it, is called for. If the Fatwa were published and Al-Quaida refused to comply with it, they would clearly alienate themselves from mainstream Muslims all over the world... Currently, without such a Fatwa, there is a lack of clear direction for the average joe/Mo on the street.

That would really help. As I have said before, our rhetoric is our biggest liability.

"Hamas talking truce for two days now is an optimistic sign. I sense a weariness setting in.

[pat on the head] ... Not likely.
