Ray,

I can see where people would be concerned about certain tax cuts and their minimal impact on the middle class. The problem is short of rebating of taxes not paid I'm not sure taxes can be lowered anymore than they already have for a lot of folks. I don't deny that terrorism was used as an election tool. Honestly I think both parties used it to a degree. The difference is I really believe the threat is real and has potential ramifications beyond what we can imagine. Is all out war the answer? Not necessarily. The fact is...I wish there was another obvious answer. I just can't see one because diplomacy hasn't worked. I think Bill Clinton made an offer to Arafat that was as good as he was ever going to get. He turned it down in favor of his old man hatred for the Jews. He was long on hate and short on settlement that was in the best interest of his people. Since I believe this issue is the inception point for much of the trouble in the ME I just don't know what we can do other than to go on the offensive. I 100% believe in pouring a NASA like effort into finding alternative fuel sources but I don't think those can be ready soon enough to disconnect from the ME in a meaningful way. I don't want endless years of wars and death. I have faith in our people that we wont allow that to happen. I have hope that what you describe is an outside possibility. I'm a middle class guy who doesn't want whats best for the few nor do I want to send my son off to war. I'm really not sure I could ever do that. If the day comes that the military wants my son they can have me.

What I really don't want in the meantime is for people to assume I'm stupid or incapable of seeing things from different angles. I assure you I think beyond the end of my nose. My eyes are wide open and if I start to sense we're headed down the road you describe I'll change my tune. I'm just not ready to determine that what we see is going to lead to the bitter ends you describe. Time may prove me wrong....but I hope not

For whatever reason, you seem to be make the huge mistake of equating the descent into a fascist hell that George Bush is promoting with some sort of a retention of "traditional values". .... Bush is one of the most dangerous revolutionaries who ever strode the stage of American history. His ideas are nothing short of being completely anti-American.

To quote you...."That's nuts", Raybo....
