I don't actually have any posts I'm not proud of. They all made me who I am today, and I'm happy with who I am. I have some posts I would lecture me about today- if I was someone else posting them, but luckily, there was usually someone around then, to tell me what I'd tell me now :-)

My point was not that Grainne should be embarrassed by her posts (I hope she isn't) but that the people who brought them up should see that their claims of hypocrisy, are in fact evidence of a more mature, less confrontational, posting style. Of course to see that, you would have to believe that such growth is a positive thing, and I'm sure not everyone would agree about that, since there are a million different view points out there.

"Anyway, I haven't seen any unacceptable behavior on this thread. A little needling yes, but nothing compared to some of the dog fights we've seen in the past."

Bill, the point is there is going to be NO unacceptable behavior on this thread, because you can't play favorites or bend the rules for certain people. If you are not really clear, it all gets out of hand and turns into a big mess sooner or later (usually sooner).

You're right--there have been no real dog fights here since I got back, and that is the way I intend to keep it. It's going to get very, very nice and polite here, and stay that way. I promise.

There are a lot of people here at Feelies who have suffered mightily from all the huge squabbles on SI, some of them really wounded by them, and I think everyone agrees that they are horrible to live through and hugely destructive. A lot of willing participants, including me, moving on.
