I am not fooled by the flowers in your hair, neo-- i know you for the tough sob you really are. If you are going to argue with Ed stick to the issues not to the fluff stuff. He is a worthy opponent for you. Who knows come january my views may be very close to his and we may be duking it out. Sun otoh is another animal altogether. Mike PS A suggestion---we might be wrong about our ability to help iraq install democracy. Unlike the wingers, i think we did what we did for best of intentions and to secure oil in the region too which i dont think to be a bad thing. Unlike you, i dont believe we did a good job post war and unlike neolib i dont think we should continue out of some sense of obligation to clean up the mess at the expense of additional american lives if the elections dont provide iraq with some positives going forward. This civil war in the triangle if it happens may turn out to be alot less costly than saddam successor sons queasy and sleazy took power and tried to quell the kurds and shiaa with those disappearing wmds that would have suddenly popped up. Neocon, regarding your self assessment post, i.e.: Obviously I am too childlike to be perturbed. I imagine myself wandering with a lily in my hand, humming "Fool on the Hill", a simple, trusting soul, while Real Men like cyn and Sun carry on the business of the Republic. I am probably idiotic enough to think America is mostly a good country, and has mostly contributed to the world. A kind of Hippie Patriot: "If you're going to Washington DC Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair 'Cause if your going to Washington DC You're going to meet some gentle people there...." It's your rare, insightful, and honest assessments that encourage me to keep working with you. If you can see yourself so clearly, surely you will someday mature and then see the world more clearly. In the meantime, you might want to come down an octave or two; especially on "hair" and "there." G. Ed
