Most of the colonists were farmers, hence their preference for conservative government which protects landowners rights. Saudi Arabia is of course culpable in their House of Saud power protection schemes, however it seems evident that Americans could not survive without the humungous amounts of Saudi fuel it takes to fill all the ugly SUVs. I was hopeful the rise in gas prices would finally eliminate those tank-like vehicles but it hasn't so far made any noticeable difference. Liberal, conservative references are an efficient way to describe the political divide in the USA. Sorry if the word offends you. Being called a conservative if fine with me.
