I am sorry that you only have exposure to the worst of the lot. There is a very often repeated story about the Messenger Mohammad, that is taught to young Muslims as an example of tolerance and charity. It seems he had a Jewish neighbor who made a habit of laying his garbage in front of Mohammad's door each morning. One morning there was no garbage. Mohammad visited the neighbor's house to inquire if there was anything he could do to help as he figured the man must have become ill. "I wish it were otherwise, but I'm fairly sure we are in for a lengthy fight. Yes, and it will probably get worse. However, it is not against Islam, as the OBL types do not represent Islam. If he does we are in a lot more trouble than I thought, since there are an estimated 7 million Muslims in the US and the tendency is to have large families. As you probably heard Canada is even more so. The reformation of which you speak is underway and being escalated do to the fact that a large percentage of Muslims no longer live in monotheistic cultures.
