It must be a Southern tradition to have crazy relatives, I have so many of them. ;^)

My mother just got a call from my brother, he's in Hong Kong, on his way back from Tibet! He's not crazy, just individualistic.

My dad, on the other hand, is planning on marrying a mainland Chinese woman he "met" on the Internet. She lives somewhere in Guangzhou, and doesn't speak much English. He's been to visit her four times, and is waiting for her to get a "fiancee visa". They talk dirty to each other via IM twice a day. I wish I did not know that, but was helping him settle the estate of his third wife and could not help but know it since he does it morning and night. I think she probably actually has someone typing for her. He gives her $500 a month for English lessons, my guess is that she can pay someone to help her IM her American boyfriend to keep him interested.

He's looking for someone to take care of him and help him take care of his 9 year old son he adopted with his third wife. He's 72. Actually has some American women interested but says they are too fat and old for him.

Now, can you top that for Southern weirdness? Not sure what Faulkner would have made out of it.
