re: Frankly Kerry was damaged goods from the start. His vietnam past, though in my view very honorable, became an easy target.

It's easy to pick out one reason why he lost, when actually it was a bunch of reasons. I think the swifty thing was a turning point, he had some momentum then, and it left some people with a little less trust.

And frankly, I think for 10% - 20% of the voters it's a beauty contest, and Bush looked better than Kerry. It was like Dukakas; he never could have won because he looked like such a dork. People won't admit it, but it has an influence.

On the issues, I agree with the article. It wasn't values, it was all about "terrorism" and Iraq.
