I expect a lot of give aways from retailers after Christmas. Hence I am holding my trigger on "non gift" purchases. IMO, the best gift for your loved ones is a "GIFT CARD" from these retailers - with a note that this is valid for purchases in 2005 :-).

My informal lunchtime check of the lines at Best Buy would indicate that sales are slower this year.

If you have time for lunch, perhaps they are not working you hard enough. gggg

David J. Contis, executive vice president and chief operating officer of mall operator Macerich, based in Santa Monica, Calif., reported that gift-card business soared 40% in November from last year. "That is fundamentally changing" our business, pushing sales into the latter part of December and into January, he said.
