I'm a life time member here. And as a "life timer" I'm mucho pissed off that I lost my ability to perform advanced searches. In the site's history, advanced search was only available for a very short time while Go2Net owned it. It was introduced as a beta, and didn't survive long. Likely because it was so expensive to provide. Do you remember when it was that you lost your ability to perform advanced searches? I don't remember the exact dates. I believe it was only available for a month or two and that was 4-5 years ago. I purchase the life time membership to have that ability for a life time. In the old version of the site, the purchase of a lifetime membership added 3 things to an account: 1. The ability to post public messages. 2. The ability to post private messages. 3. The ability to read messages in batches of 10. That's it. Everything else was included for free and didn't require the purchase of a subscription. How the heck did they take that away from life time memberships without pissing everyone off? Because: 1. Most lifetime members know advanced search was very short-lived in the site's history, was a long time ago, didn't work as well as this one, was not part of the site we acquired, and didn't require the purchase of a subscription before using it. 2. The "basic" search here that's available to all subscribers, lifers, and grandfathered members smokes the search available on the old site in terms of features.

One aspect of SI everyone agrees should not be changed has to do with the changing and survival evolution of SI. Unlike Raging Bull that arrived small and had quick growth due to an infusion of multiple free memberships available to everyone, free of administration control to enforce TOU, SI has had a story line suitable for Murder She Wrote meets Bob & Matt, The Repo Men. While I'am part of the crowd in the middle of the night sky lite with the flames of torches carried by the angry mob of those lifers fearing their access to the silicon kingdom will have a toll booth erected for crossing the moat, I will continue to shout INJUSTICE, but also remind those that want to tar & feather King Bob and/or Admin Dave, that if you are successful the cure may be worst than what you deem as the current placement of hurt. History tells of many a Kings that when cornered will do what they normally will not. So I say, take down the gallows and build a wait watch tower. Wait, as time becomes days of past the rulers of SI have available what they now have, that being to change status quo. If the deep dark dungeons of the kingdom of SI are unfilled with the bashers and con men & ladies, and filled overflowing with the cash loot of those zitizens of SI, and those afar that spy in for free through the trees of ads, that once the gold coins and semi-real paper money become too great, just maybe King Bob will accept lifers as more than equal to other members. Its in their power, so lets be nice and supported eventhought we feel their support under us a little less so, the story line of SI continues unchanged to alway change. D:oug
