re: but its not like the war would be tremendously different without those armor kits.

When it's not your body being blown apart... it's easy to be cavalier.

re: the new reason to call the administration criminally incompetent or lacking of any concern about the lives of our soldiers.

You said it, I didn't.

You are a creep. Not only do you vote for and support the death, you are too cheap to pay for protection for other peoples kids.

That's BS. We should pay for this armor. I just think you and other people are making the issue in to something it isn't.

Now that's BS. People are reacting because of two things........Rumsfeld's callous answer and because funds were allocated for upgrading the humvees and trucks, and there has not been the kind of progress expected. It doesn't matter what the situation is with other armies. We had determined that American vehicles should be armored and its not happening at a satisfactory rate.

Furthermore, its clear that as Sec. of Defense, Rummie was not up to snuff on the situation and decided to wung it at the meeting with the troops. Furthermore, its a bit galling that he was not willing to have the meeting in Baghdad. Its okay for the Sec. of Defense to send troops into Iraq but he's too scared to go himself? Frankly, of anyone in Bush's cabinet, it's Rumsfeld who should have gone. He may be smart but he's not very clever.........and Iraq is a total disaster in many ways due to his poor war planning.

After we do armor up all the Humvees and a lot more trucks the war will be pretty much the same, and I wouldn't be surprised that some other problem (and there will be other problems there always are in war) becomes the new reason to call the administration criminally incompetent or lacking of any concern about the lives of our soldiers.

You think those soldiers are pressing the issue because they want to find fault with the administration? I doubt it very much......and if it were true, its secondary to their concern for the safety of their lives.
