Oh, and Chubut has oil production on the plains, FWIW. I would think that takes the edge off what might otherwise be more pressure on the need for the province to generate income.

"Not the same as Montana. The population center of Chubut is Esquel. It is a university town, and most of the voters have jobs in some fashion or another within the public sector - city, provincial or federal. They can afford to be against mining. They don't need it."

Heck, sounds exactly like Montana! University towns, jobs with Forest service, BLM, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, National Park Service, 50+ year old ex-hippies who are still getting allowances from Ma & Pa to not come home and embarass them, the rich and famous who have ski chalets or summer homes etc. etc. People in Bozeman (MSU) and Missoula(Uof M) do not want Montanans to have good paying mining jobs. That would drive up wages of the common folk, and people would get independent and uppity and not do what they are told!

Thanks for all the info, Valuepro. IMA was not on my #1 list before, but definitely is not now.
