One of the points that I don't see much discussed about privatization of SS is that the funds are used by the government as interest pool to draw upon. If it is privatized, then the government will have to sell more T-bills and that will raise the interest rates which in turn will lower the gains in the stock market. There is no free lunch. Why some people don't get this fact is beyond me.
