kholt, Since the definition of "abstract" that you seem to be referring to is "thought of or stated without reference to a specific instance", you are casting your net too widely. From the beginning, you have centered your intimidation on a simple statement like "merry Christmas". That may not be A specific instance, but it is surely a series of the SAME instance. If you don't like someone wishing you a merry Christmas, just ignore them. That doesn't take much effort, and has no lasting effects. Lighten up. IT IS THE CHRISTMAS SEASON!!
