Good heavens. Here's another socialist with one more wacky scheme "for our benefit".

This socialist plan involves the government borrowing trillions of dollars and distributing it to average Americans to invest. Maybe they'll earn more than the rate on government bonds or more likely less.

But apparently there are social benefits from the scheme, beyond lousy economics. It will give the idle something to talk about at their local coffee shop.

It's a Monetarist version of High School students paper-trading stocks --
............................. -- except, with this Monetarist version on steroids, the paper is newly issued Federal Reserve notes.

The concept makes no sense economically. That's what matters. Why create a bigger problem than the one that exists? What good is it if you have to pay much higher income tax rates on what you withdraw? He's dancing around the real issue of returning the general budget back to balance. He's creating other issues to distract from the real problem.

If his SS fix is anywhere as effective as his Medicare prescription plan, it'll be another disaster. I had to look into whether my elderly parents would qualify for the drug plan the other day. I found out they won't qualify for any discounts on their prescriptions despite paying 40% more for Medicare premiums since last year. You can't qualify for the idiot plan if you make more than 16K or if you're already covered for prescription coverage in another insurance plan. Hardly anyone qualifies for the benefit. It looks like the real purpose of the plan was to boost reimbursements to the health care industry and to block drug reimportation from Canada...
