The left would give them self-respect, justice, and hand-outs. The right would invade them, topple their governments, and set up democracy and commerce.

Come on, Karen. That's an outrageous comparison. Ya looking for a "food fight?" :>)

How about if we just left them alone. Why don't we just set a good example.

The British pretty much did that in Hong Kong. They left them alone and the People in Hong Kong found their way. Only the British said do as we say and not as we do. As a result, when the British left Hong Kong, Hong Kong had more billionaires and people who owned Rolls Royces per capita than in dear old England.

During the cold war, any time they had a chance to leave Russia ostensibly for a conference, performance, or vacation - anybody with any talent and common sense would ask for asylum. We set the example and let the people vote with their feet.

We have our own problems. We should fix them and then give tours to Gap country management to show them how it is done.

The people on the right have the mistaken belief we have the right to tell others how to manage things by force - even before we get straightened out ourselves.
