kholt, The reason the productions went into high gear at the beginning of WW2, was because millions of house wives of America finally got a chance to get out of the house, and do something to help their sons, fathers, and husbands, to win the war. In this day and age, many of the women that would be in the factories, have advanced to management, service, or independent, vocations. To compound the situation, the labor unions have become common extortionists, and if they don't get what they want, they will, purposely slow down production to make their point. Then there is the cost to consider, even though Bush will not pinch pennies when our troops are concerned, the contractors selling to the military, have become intense, and greedy.

Can anybody justify an $8,000 toilet, or $3,000 monkey wrench, not to mention installing an ash tray, costing $600 each in jet fighter planes, when no pilot is allowed to smoke in that plane? I think such things are ridiculous, and none of the contractors, or average workers, give a damn about our troops. They are all looking out for their wallets.

Shields is an opportunist latching on to the latest Demolib talking point memo.

It's really as simple as that.

Interesting how you've bought the line that production isn't ramped up to meet demand or need. I really don't know all the facts regarding exact numbers of armored platted vehicles, nor what we need, and I doubt in the currect climate we can find a reasonably clear answer.

That's the problem with overly partisan pundits like Shields. He is not writing or investigating to dig out the facts, but just writing talking points in order to throw political mud around.
