You know, one suggestion I actually liked was the suggestion of continuing the socialist system of SS we have now, but make it even more socialist by eliminating the social security cap. I bet that alone would wipe out the entire $10.4 trillion unfunded balance. Get the rich to pay for it.

Unfortunately, that would effect me quite a bit as well, but I like the idea of Bill Gates contributing a lot of money into SS. Think about it. Let's say he's worth $70 billion and he gets a 5% return on his money per year. That's $3.5 billion per year in income. Take 12% of that and you get $420 million per year in contributions to the fund. And that's just one guy.

So if we want to solve our national debt, social security unfunded balance, and the deficit, all at once, I say tax the shit out of people who make more than $500K per year. That would wipe out all of those problems in one fell swoop and most of these rich people wouldn't even feel the bite out of their lifestyles. :)
