Right, I understand. But let me ask you this. Do you have all of your retirement money in a savings account? Or do you invest it, at least partially, in the stock market?

I personally have only my emergency funds in my savings account. My retirement savings are in stocks and bonds for the most part. So for the same reason, it would be foolish to continue investing you SS with the gov't, if they are going to give you an opportunity to put that money to work in the market.
