That is alright with me, I was not interested in a terminological argument anyway, although commonly, the existence of allies is considered multi- lateral. The thing that gives me a chuckle is the implication that we are just "doing as we please", as if it were not a substantial, sobering decision any way one looks at it. I would think that anyone supportive of democracy would prefer that matters of life and death, such as the commitment of troops, should ultimately be made by an existing democratic community, within its norms and with a sense of committing itself and its troops to the undertaking, rather than be subject to the actions of those whose interests may be far from those of our country. In that case, what you call "unilateralism", I call functioning as a valid democracy.
