<Rapacity leads to money and power. >

True in some respects Malcolm and most assuredly through government and perversely, people voting for those governments like turkeys voting for an extra Thanksgiving.

In private enterprise and capitalism where people are free to buy or not as they decide, there is no rapacity and the only power people have is purchasing power, which is no power at all because there has to be a willing seller.

It's only via governments that power is wielded, legally. There's also crime. Government and criminal protection rackets are indistinguishable other than the quality of the authorities' uniforms and the documentation.

Brain power does lead to money and to political power and the presidency. Bill Clinton got money and political power and the presidency. Without his brain power, he most assuredly would not have made it.

$ill Gates, Larry Ellison, Irwin Jacobs and swarms of others got money [but not power other than purchasing power] through brain power.

Brain power plus common sense in a blooming innovative exploration stage means bigger potentials, and a bubbling couldron of innovations. Of course availability and how much of it are highest most important factor. And the education system is needed to nurture future supply of brain power. If that brain power is nurtured to be universally diversified to cover all the primary regions of the world, then this potential becomes unprecendented.

Malcolm:

It's not hard to see you are from Ontario. Brain power leads to patent office clerks and the general and special theories of relativity, quantum nonlocality and supraluminal communication. Mindlessly following your parent's advice leads to "doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers, and other intellectual specialists". With a few notable exceptions, each of these professions is undergoing rapid change as the computer revolution collectivizes the minds of men, just as the industrial revolution collectivized their labour. How many GPs are happy? Most of them work 50+ hours a week for under C$200K a year out of which comes their office expenses, including receptionist/nurse.

I am teaching my kids to think for themselves, urging them to learn Mandarin and advising them that if they want choices when they are 40, they will have top learn what money is, what it can do and how to use it to build freedom for themselves, their family, community etc. Most "intellectual specialists" will never in their lives attain this freedom.
