Why not? Analogies in law: Under the Uniform Commercial Code, when there is a conflict between the amount written in words and numerals on the face of a check, the written words control. In a contract, written words followed by numbers in parentheses control. The thinking is that the word written out in full is a much more dependable expression of intent than just a number.

Of course, you are of the Daley professional election theft party, so I'm sure this is lost on you.
