At times unintended consequences may turn out to be the most important ones.
Some from this war might turn out to be:
1. Iran and US settle differences and work together to protect shia whether in united iraq or shiaastan.
2. Palestine moves away from terror model and peace in the Mideast begins to take shape.
3. Other arab states move toward a more liberal model.
4. The fact that they have some success in iraq diverts islamic terrorists from their main job of hitting the west.
5. Foreign Islamic terrorists are ultimately dealt harshly with by iraqis after some sort of peace worked out with iraqi nationalists and govt.

Of course the list above would have subplots as well. Iran desiring eco relations with the US also gives in on rejectionism in the mideast and on nukes in exchange for a prominent leadership role in the area and a special relationship with iraqi shiaa. Iran also may do a pakistan one day and turn on hated, but tolerated, al quaeda wahabis who hate all the shiaa anyway. mike
