What would a 15-20 meter tall tsunami do to the Hawaiian islands?

We had a bad one in Hilo in '46. They had an hour's radio warning that the residents ignored. Killed 300.

I have often thought about it. I am 600 feet off the beach and 20 feet up in a concrete building.

Depending on the distance from shore, we would have excellent warning if one was going to hit. Poor connectivity in Asia kept the people from safety in this one. High ground is two miles away. But I would probably head for the 10th floor roof.

A couple of nuts would try to surf it, al la "Lucifer's Hammer."
