I don't know whether they are blinded by ideology, or whether they wish a completely different reality- it's impossible to tell, really. But the statements about founding some sort of western style democracy in Iraq are just bizarre. Post after post I read about the "chance" the Us has "given" to Iraq. What we have really done is foisted social and political upheaval on them- and though upheaval is bound to come in most societies at some point, it is never good to be the foister of it (imo). and to foist it for such strange unrealistic notions (if these notions were the true reason) verges on insanity.
