I think you should get one vote for every dollar in taxes you pay. Since the tax payers are the ones supporting this welfare State

Orcas,

From my cursory review of the RCW's, it appears that it is up to the counties to set out rules for defining "residence" for voting purposes. I see no reason why someone can't have a "residence" that is at a marina, in a treehouse, or wherever, but receive mail somewhere else. What has to be able to be verified is that the person (a) really exists, and (b) is who they say they are.

I think you and I are more or less on the same page on this.

Agreed on the WA election. Rossi should concede. My check will be in the mail first of the year to go toward his run against Maria "Can't Do" Cantwell for Senate. Want to place a wager on whether he wins or not if he makes that run?

What to wager?

Lunch at the Hungry Clam?

Dinner at the Krusty Krab?

It was fun to kick it around, but the more it's looked at, the more absurd it becomes.

"...to vote you must also own or at least rent property with a street address"

There are entire towns that don't have mail service. People have to drive to a tiny post office to get their mail. Because the tax base doesn't support mail delivery, or homes are too spread out, or whatever.

Requiring a physical mailing address in order to vote would have handed the victory to Kerry (and Gregoire) in our theoretical little mind game here.

"The votes have all been certified from a hand count, the most accurate and comprehensive count available to us."

That would have been great, if King County weren't pulling new ballots out of their a*s with each new recount.

What's up with that? Finding new batches here, another packet there... check the basement again, maybe there's more down there.

Kind of embarrassing for that state, IMO.
