Although its good to have some left wingers out there as it makes them targets for controversy or reminders why you don't want them in power. [rant] That said, I don't know his political beliefs, but I have had the opportunity to know a few left wing socialists [ie: communists imo] over the years and I'm always puzzled by their hyprocisy. #1 case 1: Back in college my ex roomate was a card carrying communist and was always touting the philosophy. I had to kick him out because he never had the money to pay for the rent, but had the money to spend on toys. But what blew me away about him was he also believed in capitalism and was in college as a dual math/computer science major. He would always brag how he planned to make a ton of money and enjoy his wealth, while at the same time tout how everyone should live and be a communist. #2 case 2: Few years ago a colleague I worked with was a far left liberal socialist/marxist: Here he was in a high paying job, enjoying the fruits of his labors: nice porsche, nice house, went to the Opera, plays, ballet, ate at nice restaurants. However every chance he got he would go on and on about how bad the US was because we had too many right wingers in the government. In both cases I'd just look at them incredulously because they claim they are bleeding heart liberals but don't live the life they preach. Its one thing to say you are a left winger. Its another thing to go live with the masses and be a true left winger/socialist/communist.... the latter never happens. [/rant]
