One thing that is clear from the remarks by Osama is the following.

After 9/11, America was on the defesive. We had just been attacked in our homeland and we were fearful of another attack. The Bush doctrine of pre-emptive warfare had as its first and second pillars the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq, in order to take the war to them (Al Qaida).

It is now clear we are fighting Al Qaida in Iraq, as the central battleground. To leave now will be to abandon Iraq and the Middle East to Al Qaida, which will give them the power of nations (vast amounts of money, arms, oil, and WMD) to fight us with.

So we can't leave. I think Bush was successful in bringing the battle to Al Qaida, but he may have also been successful in getting us pinned down in Iraq. We've now entered a phase of the war that mythical King Arthur would have despised. :) King Arthur was for peace, but if war came, he was for total war. We're now fighting a half war, because we have to be politically correct. In addition, Al Qaida gets stronger the longer we stay. So our chances of success are getting smaller every day. These upcoming elections are crucial and we should use them as our exit strategy. I hope Rumsfeld and Bush get that fact.
