Definitely. In fact, to put it differently, the neocons now run the show and 911 was the "turning point" -- the moment in time that signalled their take-over -- the realization of the coup de etat, if you will.

I go further than Hartmann who says:

>>It's the story of idealism gone wrong, of ideologies promoted in the US by Leo Strauss and his followers (principally Wolfowitz, Feith, and Pearle), and in the Muslim world by bin Laden's mentor, Ayman Zawahiri. Both sought to create a utopian world through world domination; both believe that the ends justify the means; both are convinced that "the people" must be frightened into embracing religion and nationalism for the greater good of morality and a stable state. Each needs the other in order to hold power. <<

For me, this has nothing to do bin Laden other than that he, or what he purports to be, is/was the catalyst for the neocon take-over of power in the US. In my opinion, this is all about the US and people within it who have taken power for themselves and from the "people". Further, I don't think this has anything to do with idealism but with pure materialism -- power and money -- and the means to obtain it. The apple was ripe for picking and they picked it. The Americans have only themselves to blame because they did not safeguard their democracy and their liberty. Now we're all in the brown together.
