Suma, the problem is that Rather made some VERY inflamatory charges against one of the nominees days before one of the most hotly contested elections in US history. He did it against advice of his own expert. He was shown to be wrong within mere hours of publication. OK. Much later he apologized. I think he shoulf have been fired in disgrace. SeeBS proved the truth of their nivkname by keeping him on the staff.

Can you IMAGINE the uproar we would still be hearing had something like that been done to Kerry?

You're a good person, Suma, but you're wrong on this. But not 1/1000 as wrong as Rather was.

Richard Clarke did not apologize for something he did wrong.
He used that faux apology purely for political purposes.

And FWIW, Bush has stated he has made mistakes. He also said
he will let history decide the magnitude of them just as they
will decide the number & magnitude of the great things he
accomplished.

But I guess your standard as applied to conservatives is
completely different than those applied to liberals, so it
will be completely insufficient for you.

I credit Bush for not falling into an obvious trap set by
liberals. If Bush admits to any specific mistakes, it will be
blown out of proportion & become headline news for weeks on
end.

Smart fellow, that Bush dude.

I'm sure it NEVER occurred to you that the media NEVER
hounded Clinton repeatedly to list his mistakes publicly,
yet you think there is no liberal bias in the MSM.

Go figure.

whatever?

that's rather dismissive isn't it?

A ten isn't bad but on what scale.

"I give it a 10 in the cornered apology category"

the cornered apology scale

0 = a barely cornered apology

10 = the ultimate cornered apology, so cornered there is not other way out but to apologize
