Yeah I don't mean equipment. We're not doing that - I don't think. I'm worried about the cash. We can't really send it with string attached so my only concern is that corrupt politicians use some of that money to potentially fund terror groups. Indonesia has been a pretty hot zone for terror groups and *I think* there was a time not so long ago that we had reason to believe Al-Qaeda had operatives there. If the money were to get diverted I can just see Bush getting slammed for being stupid for sending money that was used against us. To that extent I do believe there are times that guy just can't win for losin'. I'm not trying to be a Bush Rah Rah guy but this is clearly a case where he's done the right thing and yet there are some risks even if they are minimal. I really can't believe the scope of this disaster. The original numbers were so off its no wonder we started with 35 million. We've gone from 23k dead to over 150,000 not to mention that many of these smaller islands either no longer exist or can no longer be lived on. I do have to laugh about us back home though. This week there are shows about the potential Tsunami headed for the US, Killer waves etc. etc. You'd think that our TV stations would at least give the world a chance to burry the dead before they turn into the self absorbed profiteers from the biggest natural disaster to hit the globe in god knows how long. I'll be 39 soon and I don't ever remember anything like this in my life.

When was the last time 150k people or more were killed from a natural disaster? I really have no idea.

I said to my wife the other day that the airlines could pitch in and buy a lot of PR points if they were to offer free flights for people to go over and work. Wave 1 would have to be highly qualified but at some point even some joe lunchbuckets would be helpful just to help clean up the mess. I wouldn't want to risk my life or risk the health of my family but if I could satisfy those two questions I'd be willing to put in a week of labor for the cause. With enough people doing that we could keep costs low since nobody would get paid under the circumstances.
