Given the cruel insurgency our soldiers start to hate and then they stop discriminating in their hatred. Thats where we got the term gooks from and when used it applied to friend and foe alike in vietnam. In this article history seems to repeat itself. US needs to get out of sunni areas after elections and let the chips fall where they may. We should stop being racked by guilt and start making realistic assessments of the situation. IF there is more killing to occur, let them kill each other and settle this dispute. I heard Barry McCafferty yesterday that if left alone the sunnis would end up dominating the South again. Our fall back should be to provide the shiaa with some security as they build their defenses for such a possibility. The whole sunni world apparently is afraid of shiaa self rule as if they have done such a great job. Even King Abdulla talked of an islamic shiaa crescent forming in the iran-iraq/shiaa area. Well get used to it Kingy if all you can offer is terror to keep the shiaa down. Mike
