I wouldn't be surprised over the short term to see the Dems morph into the party for fiscal responsibility. Remember that the Dems already enacted most of their big government platform over the last few decades and they've already compromised our freedoms about as much as they can ever expect to get away with. The GOP still has a laundry list. It is not outside the realm of possibility that the Dems pick up the federalism and fiscal conservatism mantle.
