Neocon wants to believe that the invasion was a noble deed, prosecuted by intelligent, well-informed people behaving in a highly rational manner -- he wants to believe that any rational person of high moral standard would have made the same decision as Bush. Neocon never discusses foreign policy as if there were choices -- he follows along and defends the people who made the "right" decisions. He also assumes that all the trouble we have been going through is just par for the course -- the price you pay for spreading democracy and freedom throughout the world.
