Yes...Neo is a very perceptive individual.....and he is absolutely correct about Iraq, the threat it posed, etc. although, as usual, I believe you misstated his positions on several issues....

Actually, I have not precluded the idea that reasonable people may have disagreed on several issues, and therefore that some rational and moral may have behaved differently in some respect or another. I have merely said that leaders deserve some consideration for having to make hard choices, and therefore should be given benefit of doubt. I also have not said that all the troubles are just par for the course. I have said that there may have been fundamental errors, but that I do not feel confident in assigning blame at this point. If I were to cite mistakes, I would say that the failure to enlist regular army officers and "apolitical" Ba'athists early in the occupation counts heavily. But, again, I was not there, I do not know all that might have factored into the policy as it was devised, and the Administration is under attack, so I am not inclined to dwell on my own differences. Finally, the implication that I would ordinarily resort to arms to spread democracy and freedom is false. I regard Iraq as a special case, and there are other cases where I would consider armed intervention, but I do not think that force is the method of first resort.
