All I'm saying is that people don't take you very seriously when you post veers from the intelligent opinions and towards the shrill. Anyway, to address your post, we are on opposite sides of the fence. We agree on one thing: this issue is deadly serious and it's probably the biggest issue of our lives. You on the one hand believe if we cut and run, everything will be ok. I on the other hand believe that we are facing an enemy unlike any we have ever faced before. You see, John, this is alot like Vietnam in that we are losing kids every day and that it seems we are losing the war. However, the objectives of Vietnam and Iraq and very different. In Vietnam, we went in battling proxies of Communism and Soviet Russia. We went in with an imperialistic ideal of spreading our form of Democracy. In the Middle East, I honestly feel it is different. The people of the Middle East have attacked us at home, in New York. We have struck back in the heart of the Arab world. This is not a war that we started or chose. Rather, it is one where we overtly decided that the best defense was a very aggressive offense. I was always raised with an eye towards fully evaluating your opponent and choosing a strategy that best fits that enemy. In a war with other countries, we always had the option to negotiate with the gov't of that country to stop the war and come to terms. With the Muslim extremists, first we can't negotiate with Zarqawi or Osama or any one of the other thousand heads of the hydra, because they don't want to negotiate, all they want is to kill Americans and other innocents. Second, if we did manage to negotiate with Osama and came to terms with him, the other 999 heads of the hydra would keep attacking us, because the Muslim world is so oppressed and they have been raised to hate America and the Jews, so we are always the target of their violent release of hate filled frustration. So, I don't have your confidence that the Muslims will stop attacking us, if we just pull out of Iraq. On the contrary, I think I'd rather we keep killing them in large numbers over their. At least, they are matched up against our pretty formidable army, rather than matched up against defenseless civilians.
