You forget that a large fraction of gun owners belong to the NRA. I would say 95% of gun owners are WELL aware of the 2nd amendment.

More than 95% of the people who own guns have never read the Constitution. Most of these people are ignorant and apathetic WRT the 2nd amendment.

I don't doubt the first part of that. But I'd make a wager that virtually all of them are aware of the second amendment to the extent that they have the NRA mantra memorized rote.

If hunting, sport shooting, national defense and self defense are patriotic, then you are right to say I own guns for patriotic reasons.

Doesn't everyone?...except the criminals.

LOL!!

This is just more of the "righties are knuckledraggers", red states are dumber, etc., etc., nonsense which seems to spew endlessly from the demolib party and its adherents....

Actually Mary, I'd bet my wager would win hands down if we could take a poll of everyone in the US. Almost all gun owners have heard and read the 2nd amendment and think that it gives them the right to own weapons. Having read the actual document, I am fully aware that it Does not.

There is a lot of ignorance about the constitution all around but "more than 95%...have never read the Constitution" might even be too high for the population at large and almost certainly is too high for gun owners.

MC, I'll call that bet any day of the week. Evidently you live in some neighborhood, surrounded by ignorant people, that may, or may not, own a gun, or have no concept of the make up of those that own guns.

You seem to think that 95% of gun owners are hillbillys, that walk around bare footed, and don't know how to read. They may have guns, but the are in a very small minority of those that own them. the vast majority in gun owners, range from the blue collar worker that knows how, and when, to use a gun, to people in careers like doctors, lawyers, teachers, professors, business owners of all size firms, up the the President of the United States, since the union was formed.

Your post was demeaning, snobbish, mean spirited, and obviously from a person that has no clue about the topic of that message.

There are very few people that have read every single word of the word of the constitution, but they, but they know what it says.

You should get off that high horse, before you fall off and hurt yourself.
