If shrimp farming is so terrible, why are the people there farming them?

Gee, they even farm prawns in southern IL:

Somebody should warn them what a horrible thing it is to farm shrimp/prawns. Or maybe it is just a catastrophe for the brown skinned people of the world?

Kind of ironic isn't it - a region has been hit by a terrible natural catastrophe and people are saying they should have a boycott of a significant cash crop put on them too.
