I think the best information that indicated we have threatened Syria was Powell's comment after leaving the country. He said, "We had very frank discussions." The last figure I recall seeing was Syria's armed forces are about 400,000 strong. They purchased over 1200 Russian tanks in the 90s. They have VX and the means to deliver it anywhere in Israel and Iraq. Some believe they have bio capabilities. They are the world's best at recruiting and training suicide bombers. Syria is a formidable force. Much of their equipment may be antiquated but they do not lack motivation to kill Jews, Christians and Americans.
