AMD needs to make the K8 work on 90nm IBM process in either case (for Chartered), which makes it very likely that 90nm test wafers are being processed in East Fishkill as we speak, and will likely be the first output of Fab36.

I don't know but you may be a jumping the gun a little here. I don't know when the K8 port started to IBM's 90nm process but there's a lot of work there that needs to be done, at least if they expect anything near optimal performance. It's a long way from a slam dunk. It will take a number of turns and probably full mask sets, not just metal layers. That's my guess.
