don't know but you may be a jumping the gun a little here. I don't know when the K8 port started to IBM's 90nm process but there's a lot of work there that needs to be done, at least if they expect anything near optimal performance. It's a long way from a slam dunk. It will take a number of turns and probably full mask sets, not just metal layers. That's my guess.

No doubt, and it will take time. But the process of migrating K8 to IBM's 90nm process has not started yesterday. Groo has been takling about it a year ago, so some work must have been going on in parallel. AMD's 90nm process has a priority, and will probably end up always performing better than IBMs. But AMD is not going to spend $2B on a fab with nothning to produce in it if 65nm is not ready.
