When the Ipod was released there were already many players on the market, but Apple raised the bar with greatly improved usability and a great graphic display, too often missing on other players, even with a higher priced player they stole the show.

Now Apple went the Walmart route vs Nordstroms and I think it hurts their imagine. But again Apples name presently has lots of appeal to those who don't know any better.

Apple could have produced a far superior model and raised the bar but they didn't and that was a mistake.

I just hope Apple lowering their price will encourage the competition to add more features and expandability to their models.
