Interesting news. On one point the "Western energy executive" is talking nonsense. He says "Russia's oil sector does not need the money .. of China or India etc." The facts are: Russia is poor. Their only source of money is the oil sector. The oil sector must share its wealth with the rest of Russia. The net result is Russia is poor and would be delighted to get Chinese or Indian money. Eventually there will be a Y-shaped pipeline with one branch going to China's northeast and the other to the Pacific Coast where Japanese tankers will receive the oil. How much will be shipped along each branch will depend on the prices offered as well as the capacity of the branches. Bottom line, China still will not get energy independence from this deal. That must come from clean coal combustion, biomass, nuclear energy etc.
